We gathered on October 25th for our 60th anniversary celebration. The theme Jesus: Yesterday, Today, Forever, reflected our desire to glorify the name of Christ, not the name of a particular ministry.
Close to 300 guests joined us for the evening that included beautiful music by Matthew Housenga (BVI composer) and The Lancaster Bible College Women’s Chorus under the direction of Ms. Elisa Chodan.
Our guest speaker Elinor Young is the subject of an upcoming BVI visualized story and the evening’s offering went in part to help with the production expenses.
The Director’s Award was presented to Karen Weitzel who served as BVI Director for many years. We honored her and many others who have had a part in the ministry over the past 60 years.
You can watch a quick recap of the evening through the video below.
PAST: During the history part of our evening we looked at one of BVI’s oldest stories and how it came into being. God continues to use A Miracle for Samuelito to point children to Christ around the globe.
PRESENT: The evening included a highlight of two ministries on opposite sides of the world that God is using to reach children with the Gospel. BVI partners with both in special ways. Take a look!
FUTURE: We also had opportunity to introduce BVI’s new Assistant Director Jeff Kilcup. Jeff and Tom are working together to develop BVI’s 2020 Vision for serving ministry partners around the world who are helping children see Jesus! Part of the developing plan is to create an A/V studio at the BVI office to help provide teachers with training and encouragement through media content.
At the end of the offering we collected an offering to go towards some specific needs including the Elinor Young story project. Please take a few moments to read and to consider giving to these needs. Like our banquet attendees, you will receive a BVI 2020 wall calendar with pictures of children reached through BVI’s partner ministries this past year. (Please include your mailing address)
